Here's a letter I just wrote to Leo Mullin, the Chairman and CEO of Delta Airlines. I also copied Frederick Reid, the President and COO. Bastards.

Dear Mr. Mullin,
I wanted to let you know how disappointed I am at Delta Airlines for discontinuing non-stop
service from Los Angeles International Airport to Boston's Logan International Airport.
Now, I'm not a very frequent flyer, I only fly home from Los Angeles to Boston three or four
times a year. And I'm not a BusinessElite customer who cares if Troy Dupuy of La Caravelle
restaurant is preparing my meals. I just want to get home as quickly and as safely as possible.
I've tried many different airlines in my five years living in Southern California - Northwest,
United, American - you know the players. Up until last week Delta was the only one who hadn't
let me down. And now you have.
I can see how cutting the overnight "red-eye" flight from Los Angeles to Boston was a money
saving measure. Many times on the flight I was the only passenger in my row. But to cut all
of the direct flights from these two cities, I think that's a terrible mistake.
What really upsets me, however, is the fact that I made my December flight plans on February 12,
and now, last week, you cancel my flight. In exchange you have me stop in Salt Lake City with a
thirty-two minute layover.
Mr. Mullin, have you ever flown on the last Saturday before Christmas? No, have you even been in
an airport on the last Saturday before Christmas? It's a zoo, a big smelly horrid zoo. That's
why I only want to be in two different airports on that day. Taking off from Los Angeles and
landing in Boston.
And now you've taken that away from me.
In the future I will only be travelling on United or American who still offer the direct flights.
I'm sad that Delta - who has never left me stranded in Detroit with no flight crew, or stuck
without a plane, waiting for the connecting flight - has let me down.
Sincerely,
Josh Edwards
Cc: Frederick Reid
Yeah, it won't do much, I'm sure. I don't expect them to make a whole new flight for me on December 21. But, on the other hand, maybe if they get enough letters like this they'll THINK about who they're affecting, and not just what money is saved, by their actions.
