Day One - Disney-MGM Studios and the Magic Kingdom

It wasn't really our first day in Florida, this is a total and blatent lie. The first full-day in Florida our family went to the Kennedy Space Center. It was actually really cool, they told us how the entire space program works. I think I'm going to sell the secrets to the KGB and finance another trip to Florida. In the meantime, however, don't tell your friendly neighborhood KGB official that he or she could get all of the same information for a much smaller fee at the Kennedy Space Center.

The second day we were in Florida we went to the Disney-MGM Studios. It was weird, because I hadn't been to Walt Disney World with my parents since 1994. Overall not a whole lot has changed at the resort - with the exception of the Studios. That place has grown like a weed in the Florida swampland. Mom and Dad hadn't been on either the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster or the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Mom actually enjoyed the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster.
(Since Dad was a good sport and later went on the Tower of Terror,
I'm going to skip the monkey eating bananna joke that I had prepared ...)

After catching up with my buddy Steve Anderson, who's currently working on the next feature animated film from Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida, we skipped over to the Magic Kingdom.

Since we weren't staying "On Property" - a first for me, we actually had to park at the Ticket and Transportation Center. Before, when we stayed at one of the resorts, we'd always just use the TTC to switch busses or grab a monorail. It felt kind of weird to park there, but it's always good to have new experiences, right?

When we got in the park the new parade was just finishing up. The whole premise of this parade is each float is a giant snowglobe. Mickey, Aladdin, everyone is cooped up in a big plastic sphere. It's kind of creepy. But it gets worse. When the parade is over you can go into one of the stores and buy the same exact snowglobe for $95. Ugh.

If these two photos don't sum up Daniel and Arielle's relationship ...

That night we got to see my favorite SpectroMagic and also hit on some unsuspecting Cast Members. Oh yeah, it was a big-old mess. But we had a great time, and actually hung around the park for about two hours after it closed. We honestly were the last shuttle to the parking lot at the TTC. Pretty cool.
