World’s Top Selling Beer

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

What’s the top selling beer in the world?

If you said Bud Light, you would have been right, two years ago.

But not today. Today it’s Snow beer (who?) from China (oh!).

According to beer research firm Plato Logic in 2008 the world’s leading beer brands are (in million of hectoliters):

1. Snow – 61.0
2. Bud Light – 55.6
3. Budweiser – 43.4
4. Skol (Brazil) – 35.4
5. Corona – 32.7
6. Heineken – 29.1

A hectoliter, by the way, is 100 liters, or 26.4 US gallons, or since we’re talking beer, 211.33 pints.

New Maine Beer!

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

I just discovered “A Blog About Beer” with their post about the new Baxter Brewing Co.

What is Baxter? A new beer company, setting up shop in the historic Bates Mill in Lewiston. Their twist isn’t a twist at all – they’ll be the first brewery north of Connecticut to can its entire line of beer.

Huh.

You’ll find Baxter beer in Maine this autumn, across northern New England in 2011.
