... day two - disney-mgm studios.

We headed out early-ish on the second day to get to the Disney-MGM Studios. Of course, our first stop was to grab a FastPass for the brand new-ish Rock 'N' Roller Coaster. Okay, okay, officially it's called the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. Whatever. We then headed over to the classic Tower of Terror where the wait was nice and short, even sans FastPass. So short, in fact, that by the time we were done, our FastPass for the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster hadn't come due. So we just browsed in some shops until it was time.

It rocks! If Disney feels that they need to put big roller coasters in the park, then by all means make them as cool as this one, and I'll be okay with it. I don't know the specifics of the ride (leave that to Dan or Karen or someone who knows their coasters) but it shoots you out of the starting gate into a couple of loops so fast! Great way to start a ride. Then they're playing some medley of Aerosmith, but I honestly can't remember what exactly they played. They throw all of these blacklit LA freeway signs at you, then, unfortunately, the ride is over. Maybe a little short, but not bad, not bad at all.

We spent the rest of the morning and well after lunch doing everything the Studios has to offer. We made sure to visit The Great Movie Ride - for internet rumors claim that that's going onto the chopping block soon. I hope not, it's a fun ride. We did Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3D and The Magic of Disney Animation and the Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour and everything. As we were leaving the park, both Dan and I commented that the Studios might just be the best park down there now. You have the classics, the new thrill rides, and (so far) they haven't replaced anything with a far inferior attraction (Journey into Your Imagination, I'm looking at you) ...

Then we hopped a bus to the Polynesian to get a monorail into the Magic Kingdom. Why, you ask? Well, on our summers in the WDWCP, that was the easiest way to get to the park. The "Cast Member" bus went to the back of the MK, and then you have to take another bus which brings you right behind 20,000 Leagues, or the remnants thereof. Thus taking the bus to the Poly (or car, in Dan's case) and hopping the monorail is the easiest route. So Dan and I both have a soft spot in our hearts for that. It was fun to do it. And it was fun to get to the Magic Kingdom ... which I'll tell you all about next page ...

Dan on Sunset Boulevard (no, not the LA one) in the morning.

Now, honestly Dan, what did you think of the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster?

I like this candid photo of Dan on the Backlot Tour.
This is the attraction he worked at during his summer on the WDWCP,
so I'd like to think that I caught a special moment on film.
Or maybe he's just bored with the ride at this point.
