I won't even go into the whole process of applying, phone tag with recruiters, or that. If you're interested, call: 1-800-772-2930 or 1-407-828-3091 or check out their page at Walt Disney World College Program. They'll tell you when they interview at your school. Or most likely they don't, so you'll have to travel to a nearby school to interview. And for the last time, I swear to Mickey's sacred gloves that I didn't know they interviewed at Northeastern. (I had to go up to UNH, instead. Oops.)
So I got the job and got to Vista Way. Then instantaniously I started meeting people. Like, lots and lots of people. And it was the same with every single person you met: "What's your name, your job at WDW, your building number/apartment number, and your school?" For some reason I never seemed to remember all four, well, three ... okay ... two of the bits of info. So then you're at the pool and you're all, "Hey ... Indiana University Girl!" And she's back with, "Blizzard Beach Dude!" Hey, it works.
But I did remember all of my roomates names. There was ... uh, Bob, Jay, err ... Figment, um ... Tiffany, some little red-headed chick and Earl. No, wait, I think there was another one. Oh yeah, that dude Andres that drove the trams at the Studios parking lot. Whatever happened to him? I think he fell off the back of one of them. And wasn't there another guy, who worked at Blizzard Beach with me? Oh yeah, Donell. And that reminds me of Michelle, who went to BU with me. But she didn't live with me, she lived next door. But Jason did live with me, he always left the cabinet doors open.
So where were we? Oh yes, roommates. Rob, Jay, Jason, Donell, Andres and I lived in apartment 3108 for the summer. We shared a tiny little kitchen, with no shelf space and even less refridgerator space. But we didn't feud about the kitchen like our neighbors in 3107 - the lovely Angela, Tara, Michelle, Colleen, Octavia and Heather. But I'm not going to even get into the disagreements in that apartment. They make 'The Odd Couple' look like, well, Disney Cast Members. =)
Seriously, I was graced with some really cool roommates. I mean, when else do you have someone clean your bathroom every three days for you, without even saying a word? I was lucky to have Rob, the neatfreak to end all neatfreaks, as a roommate. He actually vaccuumed the whole apartment, everyone's rooms included, on one of his day's off. Granted, he made quite a mess of the bathroom on the night of his 21st birthday, but he cleaned it up the next afternoon!
And like I said, we also had the coolest neighbors. The ladies of 3107 we all awesome, we hung out and watched Clueless, Star Wars, Empire and Jedi most every night of the week. Well not on Thursday, the Cast Member complimentary night at Pleasure Island. That night was reserved for being stuck with several thousand other people on that tiny little island, with everyone funneling in and out in the space the size of a Vista Way kitchen. And all of the CP's were there, so it was like,"Indiana University Girl!" and "Blizzard Bitch Guy!" all over again. Oh, the memories (and the bruises!)
So anyway, I was lucky to have a job with some of the most steady hours on property, Blizzard Beach Outdoor Foods. The park was only open during daylight, so that meant that I was home everynight of the week, none of this Magic Kingdom ODF staying open until 1 am crap. I'd be back to Vista Way by the latest of 6:30. On the other hand, I hardly ever slept in, for I worked 5 or 6 days a week, and my Seminar was on Thursday at 9 am. Ugh.
The Seminar was okay, it was a little too early, and a little too boring. But I had some cool kids in there, and I learned how to manage an entire theme park, in just ten weeks. Damn, why am I still in school, if I could run the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, heck, even just a Six Flags? But seriously, in the eyes of the Walt Disney World College Program I could run one of the top four or five theme parks in the country after that course. And BU gave me the four college credits, so I'm not going to say anything!!
I think it's time to move on to the photo part of the show. Use the arrows to go forward!
