I read this article in Dubai's Gulf News the other day (the title makes no sense because, after all, it is the freakin' Gulf News): "The farce is with you".

Basically this French photographer took a bunch of photos and Photoshopped in Star Wars characters and ships.

So I've been trying to find photos of Cedric Delsaux's Dubai shots, but so far his own website and the Empty Quarter Gallery haven't been updated.

All I've found are these tiny, tiny jpgs from here:

Anyone have any better images? This really intrigues me ...

Hey, how about that?

I was guessing that Barry would be the first comment. C'mon Barry! It's Star Wars!

Maybe you're just mad that the Clone Wars show didn't come to DVD this week?

Anyway, for educational purposes, the "Empty Quarter" is the sandy space between the UAE and the Kindgom of Saudi Arabia. When I think of th Empty Quarter, I think of the Liwa oasis (Google Map), just south of Abu Dhabi and Mirfa. We never went out that way, mostly because I was scared.

See, from what I know the UAE/KSA border is somewhat disputed - apparently the UAE hasn't signed some treaty from decades ago in which the Saudis claimed they have an outlet to the Gulf ... I'll have to do more research into it someday, but for now that's a brief story on the Empty Quarter.

Anyway, I'll keep checking the gallery website for more info.
