I think I have the Apple iPad on the brain.

Just read this article in Time: "Industrial-Strength Fungus" and specifically this quote about fungus packing material:

"The company's first product, a green alternative to Styrofoam, is taking on the packaging industry. Called Ecocradle, it is set to be shipped around a yet-to-be-disclosed consumer item this spring."

And I thought - "yet-to-be-disclosed consumer item"?

"This spring"?!

"It's the iPad!!"

So you've probably read all of the gushing geeks on the internet twittering (some literally on Twitter) about the new Apple iPad, so I'll keep my remarks brief.

The Wi-Fi model ships in late March.

My birthday is in late March.

Quick blurb about Mauritius today. You might remember that's where we took our honeymoon (see Going to the Honeymoon Now! and Back from Mauritius!).

So they've had the Apple iPhone for some time (see What Do Qatar And Mauritius Have In Common?).

But now I just saw this article, apparently they don't have the App Store to go with the iPhone?

"Mauritius to Apple: Thanks for the iPhones, can we haz iTunes Store?".

I don't have an iPhone - Lord no, I don't have an iPhone - but as everyone else I know does have an iPhone (sans my wife, grandmother, and parents - although my Mom is always talking about the "there's an app for that" ad campaign, so she'll probably get one soon), I have a pretty good idea that without an App Store the phone is pretty hindered.

Very odd.

Wow, this is kind of scary, this article estimate that 20 to 30 percent of the worldwide flash memory goes to Apple.
