Text Kills Suicide Bomber by Accident

Friday, January 28th, 2011

If this is real this is awesome!

Check out: “Black Widow attempted New Year Moscow attack but blew herself up by mistake“.

Security sources believe a spam message from her mobile phone operator wishing her a happy new year received just hours before the planned attack triggered her suicide belt, killing her but nobody else.

Wow.

UK UFO Cover Up

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Did you see this: “Churchill ordered UFO cover-up, National Archives show?”

Key quote:

Prime minister Winston Churchill ordered a UFO sighting be kept secret to prevent “mass panic”.

It got me thinking about that Keep Calm and Carry On poster, so I made this:

How BP might be the cause of the Apocalypse

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

I’ve never heard of this Helium (the publication, not the noble gas) but the headline is quite striking: “How BP Gulf disaster may have triggered a ‘world-killing’ event.”

Key quote:

They compare it to Permian–Triassic extinction event. You know, the one scientists affectionately nicknamed “the Great Dying”.

In that case? I’m going back to bed. And when I wake up? Real bacon instead of this turkey bacon malarkey.

New Coke

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

It was twenty-five years ago today that Coca-Cola revealed “New Coke!”

Twenty-five years!

There are articles (and books) out there that’ll point out every nuanced flaw in completely replacing one’s flagship brand, so I won’t get into that here. Everything written about the New Coke brand either begins or ends with, “How could a major corporation be so dumb?”

I don’t know the answer to that, but I will ask one question, though. When exactly did Coke switch from sugar to the much less expensive high fructose corn syrup?

Think about it.

LHC Works; We’re All Going to Die

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I feel the New York Times is missing half a headline today: “Large Hadron Collider Finally Smashing Properly; Black Hole Imminent.”

Ten bucks says they create a strangelet and we all blink out of exist–
